MMM – Memos on Math/Music: This site lists memos on music and math by the site owner.

The music will be listed as mp3 files. Those files have a portrait of the composer as an eye-catcher:
e.g., J. S. Bach’s music on periodic instrumentation has the following portrait,

whereas modern interpretation of J.S. Bach’s music has the following portrait.

Many thanks from the site owner to MuseScore https://musescore.com/ without which he can never create mp3 files.
The math will be listed as PDF files. Some of them are typed using conventional word processors, and others are in LaTeX. Those files have “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer as an eye-catcher: see below.

The site owner would like to express his appreciation to his cousin and the spouse (of the cousin) for suggesting that he should set up a site to list his “achievement” so far.

Some remarks on general topology

The following facts are considered “well-known and easy to prove”, but the site owner has never seen specific proofs. So it might be of help to students of mathematics to list them.

This is a harpsichord version of BWV 1043 “Concerto for two violins” https://mathmusic52.com/2022/12/23/bwv-1043-j-s-bach-concerto-for-two-violins-in-d-minor%e3%80%80/. Upon transcription, J. S. Bach changed the key from D minor to C minor, in order to negotiate with the sound range of the harpsichord of his days.

A study memo on algebra

This is the result of the site owner’s struggle to understand algebra (i.e., theory of groups, rings, fields, etc.) with the starting point based on Modern Algebra by professor Akira Hattori.
There is no claim for originality; in fact, it is a hodge-podge of citations from literally hundreds of textbooks and articles.
Caveat: The chapter 12 Algebraic K-theory is only sketchy.

LE THÉORÈME DU h-COBORDISME (SMALE), par Jean CERF et André GRAMAIN

A retyped version of the long-circulated mimeographed notes. The transcriber first uploaded this to the site https://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/~v1ranick/. Unfortunately, the site owner professor Ranicki has passed away for years, so nobody is sure if the site persists. Thus the transcriber decided to list the notes here.
-
Lectures on Characteristic Classes, J. W. Milnor

A LaTeXed version of the legendary mimeographed notes by the world-renowned topologist.
There is a more “sophisticated” version published by the Princeton University Press https://press.princeton.edu/books/paperback/9780691081229/characteristic-classes-am-76-volume-76.
However, the site by the late professor Ranicki https://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/~v1ranick/ still lists the mimeographed version. So the transcriber believes that this retyped version is of some use.

Differential Topology, J. W. Milnor

A retyped version of the legendary mimeographed notes. The transcriber first uploaded this rendition to https://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/~v1ranick/. Unfortunately, professor Ranicki, the owner of that site, has passed away for years, and the transcriber is not sure if that site persists. So he has determined to list a copy below. He hopes that the students of topology benefits from the notes.
